At Woodbury Manor, one of the most exciting features are game drives on Amkhala Game Reserve. This 9000 hectare reserve features a diversity of landscapes, from sweeping plains and towering cliffs to lush valleys and riverine thicket. The drives are conducted in open 4x4 vehicles by your personal guide whose passionate for the African bush is matched only by their enthusiasm to share thier knowledge.
Morning drives typically depart in time for the African sunrise (after a quick cup of coffee at the Manor, of course), and afternoon drives include a stop for sundowners in a secluded spot on the reserve. However, the beaty of a stay at Woodbury Manor is that you call the shots, and your wildlife experience on Amakhala Game Reserve is customizable to your heart's desire. Don't be shy to tell your guide about that special African animal you've always wanted to see.
Amakhala is a complex and diverse ecosystem, providing habitat for over 60 mammal species, including the Big 5. The reserve is also home to hippos, cheetah, giraffe, zebra and numerous antelope, as well as over 280 species of birds. This landscape has been returned to nature and offers the opportunity to experience the abundant wildlife, diverse vegetation and dramatic landscapes of the Eastern Cape.
